Jan 16 (Reuters) – Vimpelcom’s (VIP.N) board is expected to vote on a revised offer for Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris’s telecoms assets on Sunday, a deal that would create the world’s fifth-biggest mobile operator by subscribers. [ID:nLDE70D0OA]
The fate of the Russian operator’s original $6.6 billion bid for Italy’s Wind and Cairo-based Orascom Telecom (ORTE.CA) has been in doubt since Vimpelcom’s Norwegian shareholder Telenor (TEL.OL) rejected it last month.
