Nokia Oyj (NOK1V) maintained its top spot in global mobile-phone shipments in the third quarter while China’s ZTE Corp. (000063) overtook Apple Inc. (AAPL) for fourth place, Strategy Analytics said in a statement today.
Global overall handset shipments increased 14 percent from a year earlier to 390 million units, the Milton Keynes, U.K.- based researcher said. Nokia had dropped 5 percentage points to 27.3 percent while Samsung Electronics Co. climbed to 22.6 percent. ZTE with 4.7 percent, overtook Apple at 4.4 percent. LG Electronics was the third, the statement said.
