Company Background:

Biogen Idec Inc (NASDAQ:BIIB) was incorporated in 1985 and is engaged in development, manufacturing and marketing of therapeutics in fields of neurology, hemophilia, oncology and immunology. Based in Weston Massachusetts, the company maintains wide range of products which include AVONEX, RITUXAN, FUMADERM, FAMPYRA, Dexpramipexole, Baminercept, Neublastin and PEGylated.

The company also maintains collaboration agreements with Neurimmune SubOne AG, Acorda Therapeuctics, UCB S.A, Genentech Inc, Elan Pharma International Ltd, Abbott Biotherapeutics Crop, Amunix Inc, Vernalis plc and Bioviturm AB. The company was initially registered under the name of IDEC Pharmaceuticals Corporation and later in November 2003 changed its name to Biogen Idec Inc.
